Kentucky River Field School (KRFS) offers a residential gap year program for high school graduates centered around food and farming, nature and history, science and humanities, and experiential learning along the Kentucky River and beyond.

We steward a 4.5 acre historic homestead with market garden and farm to table cafe (Cafe 627) and a 110 acre secluded nature reserve and farm along the Kentucky river (River Farm) nearby. 

Our mission: Prepare young adults, in connection with tools and land, for continual learning and leadership.

 We help guide high school graduates in their further study of self, society, and sustainability. We do this through farming, cooking, land stewardship, arts and science, skilled trades, team work, entrepreneurship, community engagement, and project-based learning.

KRFS can host up to 12 residential students at a time.
